Modularization Readiness Award

The award for innovative and sustainable modular system management.

In 2015, we presented the first Modularization Readiness Award based on the results of our ID-Consult Study "The Impact of Modular Systems on Corporate Success". The award goes to the three top-ranking companies in terms of modular system competence across all stages of the value chain as well as modular system implementation.

The decision is empirically based on the level of application of modular systems as measured by the Modularization Readiness Index (MRI). The qualitative ranking is based on individual assessments with the top five companies and the managing directors of ID-Consult as well as a final assessment of our renowned jury:

Dr. Johannes Fottner, Managing Director MIAS Group, Chairman of the State Association of Bavaria, VDI e.V.

While studying and obtaining his doctorate at the Technical University of Munich, Johannes Fottner supported several research projects at the chair of extraction technology, material flow and logistics. After that he worked as manager in various functions at the Swiss Swisslog AG. Since 2008 he has been managing director at the MIAS Group, and since their takeover by the Jungheinrich AG at the end of 2015 he is now also part of the management team of the Jungheinrich section "Logistic systems".

Meinolf Gröpper, Subject Specialist Computer Science, VDMA

Meinolf Gröpper is expert in computer science at the VDMA Software Association and is responsible for topics such as product documentation and product engineering (CAD, CAM, PDM, PLM etc.). In addition he deals with all kinds of questions regarding standardization of data formats, information models and -interfaces for automation processes.

Thomas Huber, Managing Director of Schabmüller Automobiltechnik GmbH

Thomas Huber is managing director of Schabmüller Automobiltechnik GmbH in Ingolstadt-Großmehring. The company is supplier to major OEMs of the automotive sector (Audi, Porsche, Daimler, BMW) as well as their Tier1. Prior to that, in his function as CTO of Kurtz GmbH, Huber was responsible for product construction and development of particle foam machines, low-pressure casting machines, and trimming presses at Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen in Regensburg, Germany.

Dr. Manuel Löwer, Member of the Management Team of the ikt at the RWTH (Aachen University)

Dr. Manuel Löwer is managing director and senior engineer as well as member of the management team at the chair of construction technology at Aachen University. He is also managing director of the ikt Syprac and chairman of the interest group for method research, product innovation and construction technology design. In addition to several lectureships at Aachen University teaching construction technology and product life cycle management, Löwer also teaches at Hongik University in Seoul. 

Prof. Dr. Klaus-J. Schmidt, Managing Director of the Institute for Production and Logistic Systems, Manager of the AKJ Automotive of the Association for Production Management (GfPM)

Prof. Dr. Klaus-J. Schmidt studied electrical engineering, computer science and business economics in Cologne, where he also obtained his doctorate. He worked in various positions as development engineer, development manager, managing director and consultant in Germany as well as other European countries. Based on his long-term experience he founded the Institute for Production and Logistic Systems. Furthermore he managed the AKJ Automotive of the Association for Production Management (GfPM).
